Project 365 - DAY 60

February 29, 2012
LEAP YEAR!
Taking my little bathing beauty swimming. I don't think we have many more wears out of this suit. Lucy absolutely loves the water she loves going to the pool and she is getting really good at kicking in the water and also jumping from the side of the pool. We can't get her out of the bath at night and there is always a protest when we take her out. She will lay in the tub on her belly with no water left and keep kicking! Maybe we have swim team in our future!

Who doesn't love a cute baby bum with ruffles?

Not quite sure what Lucy is looking for down her suit.

My brown eyed girl!

Oh my gosh...I think spring might actually be here!  We are scheduled to have weather in the 60 degrees this week and it is fabulous!

David Hockney

Last night was my choice for date night so I booked us tickets to go see the David Hockney exhibit at the Royal Academy of Arts. We made our way down to Picadilly and found a great restaurant Al Duca for dinner. We had tickets for 9:00 PM showing at the exhibit so we had a relaxing dinner and then headed over. The most interesting part was his later work that was first sketched on ipads and then painted in the studio. I bought a few postcards of some of my favorite prints :)

Project 365 - DAY 57

The St. John's Wood High Street. This will always be a special place to me. It represents so much of what I loved about living in London. It conjures up nostalgic feelings of what it must've been like to live in the era of "The American Main Street." Before there were big box stores and everyone drove around in their cars. When you had a butcher, a flower market, a bakery, an ice cream shop....(we have all of those!). I make the trek to this "main street" in our community at least three times a week for Owen's school and often once or twice on the weekend when headed to the park. There is such a sense of community that you feel when you begin the approach to the shops and restaurants often running into several friends along the way.

The Ordnance Arms Pub, St. John's Wood. This is one of our favorite local pubs. I also pass it everyday on my walk to and from school.

Starbucks St. John's Wood. This will hold many memories for me of St. John's Wood. I know it screams "AMERICA" but I will always remember it as the heart of St. John's Wood, so central to the high street. It is always crowded and I love to go here and sit at the window and people watch. Usually seeing several friends as part of the passersby.

Hello Location!!

I found this great website back in the fall called Hello Location and I submitted some photographs taken in Primrose Hill Park, my favorite London photo shoot location. This is a great website for photographers to find excellent locations for photo shoots by city. My photos were just featured on the website today....such a pleasant surprise, my babies looked so little then....Hello Location Primrose Hill Park

The St. John's Wood Cabman's Shelter. Only 13 of these still exist in London today. Click the link for more information on the Cabman's Shelter History. By the way...the one in St. John's Wood makes a mean egg sandwich...nice and greasy!

St. John's Wood flower market. I walk past this florist just about everyday and I so wish I had brought some of my big beautiful vases from the states.

This week there will be a theme...I am trying to capture "St. John's Wood" in 7 images.

This is a photo of our favorite park in London. It is the St. John's Wood Park, located just at the end of the high street. It has a great little playground and nice walking trails. I still can't get over how green everything remains all through the winter here.

Project 365 - DAY 50

February 19, 2012
This morning Owen and I went out for breakfast and did some scootering. He has really been developing his scooter skills lately and almost scootered the entire way down to breakfast and the entire way home. He now needs to wear his helmet when he is on his scooter....I bet no one will have a helmet like this one in the states :)

Breakfast at Harry Morgans with Mama! Owen loves this restaurant because they have huge mirrored walls...and he will sit through an entire meal if he can look at himself.

His other favorite thing about this restaurant is the fresh squeezed orange juice they give him in a cup with a straw. He loves drinking through a straw.

He almost made it all the way home.....until scooter hitched a ride on the back of the stroller.

This is a before and after shot of the play area. Before the kids wake up and after they have gone down for their naps....it is mostly Lucy! Amazing that two little kids can make such a mess.

Owen brought his bulb home last week from school. I asked him what kind of plant it was and he didn't tell me. I guess it will be a surprise!
