Project 365 - DAY 31

January 31, 2012
Well, I have been at this project an entire month and haven't missed a day! I am actually finding it more enjoying than tedious...talk to me in December! ha! A special lunch out today with my little man at the golden arches. I finally got him to put down the balloon and focus on eating.

Project 365 - DAY 27

I have wanted to order one of these gallery wrapped canvases for awhile now to see what they looked like. I really like the look and can't wait to get back to PA to order some for the house!

Project 365 - DAY 26

January 26, 2012
Sometimes Lucy and I spend some quality time playing on the bed when Owen is at school. She is the best little model. Especially when she is wearing her favorite shirt....GO TIGERS!

Monday 23 January 2012

Project 365 - DAY 23

January 23, 2012
Owen loves him some gingerbread men! We picked up a few last Saturday when we went to the Borough Market and he gets to have one if he eats all of his meal. Owen likes to talk to them and give them kisses before he bites their arms and legs off :)  Sweet.

A letter in the post

My 85 year old grandmother does not have email and still enjoys sending me actual mail through the post. It is nice to still receive mail this way...in hard copy. Usually enclosed is a handwritten note and several articles she thought I would like to read and one is usually a recipe, she is an excellent cook! I received one of these such letters the other day...she must still care because she spares the extra expense to send these letters to London right now! (I just wish she could send me some of her homemade soups that she delivers regularly to me when we lived in the states. Looking forward to some good homcooked soup when we return.)

Enclosed in the letter was a nice note recalling what has been happening with her lately. Next was an article from Good Housekeeping and a recipe for a chicken casserole. I put it aside and just got around to reading the article today. The article was entitled, "Write a Love Letter....to your life.  Why a one-sentence journal can keep you happy." As I began to read the article I realized that my grandmother must have been reading my blog and heard about my 365 Project. Why else would she send me this article. It made me feel good, that she hears what I am doing, can't see it for herself because she doesn't own a computer, and thought of me when she read this.

My favorite quote from the article was more about goal setting and resolutions. One of mine this year was to take a photograph a day for 365 days. To document the everyday...those moments that are fleeting and oh so precious and as the kids grow seem to fly by in the blink of an eye. The quote is as follows, "I've discovered that - perhaps counterintuitively - it is often easier to do something every day than to do it only some days. Weirdly, it's easier to go for a walk every day than to go only four times a week; it's easier to write in a journal every day than just once in a while. When you do something every day, there's no debate, no procrastination, no wondering. Today or tomorrow? The action quickly becomes part of your ordinary routine, a matter of habit." This is so true, as I embarked on this project I was worried I was piling something else on my plate to do each day, but as it turns out...it is just part of my normal routine and I LOVE IT.

So Thank you Mungie for this article. It shows me you are still thinking of us over here and interested in what we are doing....and thanks for putting that extra stamp on the envelope :)

Project 365 - DAY 22

January 22, 2012
Today was a big day...a very big day! Owen rode his scooter all over the park OUTSIDE! He has been riding it around the flat like crazy but has always been to afraid to ride it outside at the park. Well today he rode it and he rode it well. Guess it is time to break out the helmet!

GOOD BOY OWEN!

365 Project - DAY 16

January 16, 2012
I captured this one on my phone this morning on the way home from school. It made my heart melt when Owen reached back to hold his sister's hand for the ride home :)

365 Project - DAY 15

January 15, 2012
The quintessential London phone booth. I have yet to see someone actually using one of these, but they are pretty.

365 Project - DAY 14

Can someone say NO PACIFIERS!!! YEAH!  I finally got a chance to sneak a picture of Lucy sleeping to go along with Owen's. Maybe some canvas prints for their bedrooms??

Very True

I just read this quote and it resonated with me as I embark on this year of trying to create the perfect images...

365 Project - DAY 12

January 12, 2012
Today we had a movie day. Toy Story 1, 2 or 3...those are the choices from our limited UK DVD library.

Holding Buzz's hand and snacking on some pretzels.

365 Project - DAY 11

I have wanted to get this shot for awhile. Primrose Hill has some beautiful and colorful homes!

Tuesday 10 January 2012

365 Project - DAY 10

January 10, 2012
Last night we took away the binkys.  Sorry Lucy but you were permitted to have them a month longer than Owen.  So far so good :)

Monday 9 January 2012

365 Project - DAY 9

January 9, 2012
I have always wanted to capture an image of my children sleeping. They are so peaceful and beautiful and I want to remember it always. On the other hand, I will only attempt this if I am going in to wake them from their nap....who are we kidding I am not willing to risk a nap for a photograph! I just love this image, mainly because his arms are wrapped around his favorite pillow and you can see his chewed up eye. Now I just have to get one of Lucy :)

Sunday 8 January 2012

365 Project - DAY 8

January 8, 2012
I made it a whole week and I am still motivated! Took some early morning shots on my run route through Primrose Hill Park. No sunrise though, too cloudy :(

Saturday 7 January 2012

365 Project - DAY 7

January 7, 2012
Today we had a playdate with my friend from Princeton who lives here and has a daughter Lucy's age. We had a great brunch and the kids played. Of course Lucy tried to maul Celeste every chance she got. She really needs to learn to be less aggressive with her friends :)

They have the same hair though so we thought we would get a headshot from behind!

Owen liked Celeste too.

This was our attempt at getting all three kids to take a picture together.

Friday 6 January 2012

365 Project - DAY 6

January 6, 2012
I just can't resist this crooked little smile and those big brown eyes :)  Lucy you are such a cutie pie!

Thursday 5 January 2012

365 Project - DAY 5

January 5, 2012
Today Owen finally went back to school!!! Yeah!!  I got this little present when I went to pick him up.  His first school picture.

This is what my afternoons look like these days...I am loving my new "book" with a cup of tea.  Not sure if the tea just tastes better because I am in England.
