Rome - Day 1

Drew and I said goodbye to the kiddos last night and headed out for the airport bright and early this morning. Flight was at 6:55 AM! We arrived in Rome and got to our hotel at 12:00 and checked into our room. We didn't know what to do with ourselves on the flight...we just read books and napped!! It was a vacation in itself.

After we checked in we had the rest of the day to explore and just wander around the city. We were informed that there would be protesting that afternoon so avoid the area around our hotel.

 We hiked up to some overlook spots above the Spanish Steps and the Piazza del Popolo.

We were able to get into the Pantheon and capture some pictures of the dome.

We stayed at the Hotel Artemide while in Rome.  It was a great hotel with a fabulous location.  We could walk to just about everything.
